2 hikes minutes from Shenandoah Chalet.
Powell Mountain trail (moderate) (5 minute drive)
From driveway, go down Overlook Mt Rd (the way you came in) turn right on Jollett Rd. (Rt 759, marked in red on this map)
Go past Church and sawmill on left, cross creek, look for concrete trail marker post on left about 20 feet into the woods, park on right side. Powell Mountain trail goes up to Skyline Dr. (marked in green on this map).
Meadows School Trail (easy) (10 minute drive)
From driveway, go down Overlook Mt Rd (the way you came in) turn right on Jollett Rd. (Rt 759, marked in red on this map)
Drive to the end of Jollett Rd. to the park gate. Hike up fire rd. (marked in green on this map) Goes up to Skyline Dr. Can extend hike with trip to Bearfence Mtn Rock Scramble. This is one of the best 360 degree views in the park. 2 ways to reach Bearfence rock scramble. Upon summit of Meadows School Trail, turn left and walk up Skyline Dr rd for 1/4 mile to Bearfence trail head near parking lot, or cross rd and make first left on trail to summit Bearfence.

Take Rt 33 or Rt 211 up to Skyline Dr.
Enter park. Ranger will give you a trail map of all park trails.
